How do I send an international wire transfer?
Use Transfers → International. You will need the IBAN or account number, SWIFT/BIC, and the beneficiary bank address.
What you need before you start
- Beneficiary's full legal name and address as held by their bank.
- IBAN or local account number.
- SWIFT / BIC of the beneficiary bank, and its branch address.
- For some corridors, a local routing code, purpose-of-payment code or the beneficiary's tax number.
Sending the payment
- Open Transfers → International wire.
- Enter or select the beneficiary and complete the bank details.
- Enter the amount and choose the currency to send in.
- Select who pays the correspondent charges — shared, or paid entirely by you so the beneficiary receives the full amount.
- State the purpose of the payment. This is a regulatory requirement and a vague answer can delay the wire.
- Review the rate, fees and estimated arrival, then approve with your one-time passcode.
Cut-off times
Wires submitted before the daily cut-off are released the same working day. Anything after that, or on a weekend or public holiday in either country, is released on the next working day.
Large or first-time wires may be held briefly for a compliance check. If we need anything from you, you will see a task in online banking and receive an email.
