What does an international wire cost?
A sending fee plus, potentially, correspondent bank charges. Choosing to pay all charges yourself means the beneficiary receives the full amount.
The three components
- Our sending fee — shown on the transfer screen before you confirm, and set out in your fee schedule.
- Correspondent bank charges — an international wire may pass through one or two intermediary banks, each of which may deduct a charge.
- Currency conversion — applies whenever the sending and receiving currencies differ.
Choosing who pays
| Option | Effect |
|---|---|
| Shared | You pay our fee; correspondent charges are deducted from the amount, so the beneficiary receives slightly less. |
| All charges paid by you | Costs more up front, but the beneficiary receives the exact amount you sent. Use this whenever you are settling an invoice in full. |
If the beneficiary received less than expected
The usual cause is a correspondent deduction on a shared-charges wire. Raise a support ticket with the transaction reference and we will obtain a breakdown of what was deducted and by whom.
Did this not solve it?
Raise a support ticket from inside online banking and a specialist will answer with your account in front of them — or contact us if you cannot sign in.
