Tax residency, reporting and the documents you may need
We are required to record your tax residency and, in some cases, report account information to tax authorities. Statements and interest summaries are available on demand.
Why we ask about tax residency
International agreements on tax transparency require financial institutions to identify where each customer is tax resident, record a tax identification number, and in some cases report account information to the relevant authority. We collect this at onboarding and ask you to confirm it if your circumstances change.
Keeping it current
Tell us if you move country, acquire a second tax residency, or change your tax identification number. You can update this under Profile or by raising a ticket. Records that are out of date can result in incorrect reporting, which is far more trouble to unwind than to prevent.
Documents you can obtain
- Annual statements for any period — see How do I download a statement.
- Interest certificates summarising interest earned or paid in a tax year.
- Account confirmation letters for an accountant or tax adviser — request through a support ticket.
Optimal MetroHub Bank cannot give tax advice. We can provide the records; how they are treated in your jurisdiction is a matter for a qualified tax adviser.
Did this not solve it?
Raise a support ticket from inside online banking and a specialist will answer with your account in front of them — or contact us if you cannot sign in.
